voice + video · peer to peer
Calls between contacts, over data.
No phone number, no SIM, no store account. Sign up with a username, add people by their username, and call. The server only makes the introduction — the call itself is direct between the phones whenever the network allows.
v1.4.3 · about 15 MB · Android 7.0+ · not on the Play Store — you install it yourself (below)
Built like a phone call, not a platform.
Everything it asks for serves the call. Everything it avoids serves you.
Direct, not through us
Audio and video travel peer to peer over WebRTC, encrypted end to end (DTLS-SRTP). The server relays only signaling — who is calling whom — and records that the call happened.
Made for weak networks
Call profiles shape the audio to the link you have — balanced, quiet, or tiny. Each call reports whether it went direct or through a relay, with a MOS quality score and round-trip time.
Small and private
The whole app is under 15 MB. No ads, no analytics, no phone number. Passwords are stored only as slow hashes, sessions are revocable tokens, and sign-out kills the session on the server.
A call used to belong to the network it rode on. On Ayooo it belongs to the two people talking — and to no one else.
On a phone in two minutes.
Not on the Play Store, so you install it yourself — once. Full walkthrough on the help page.
Your phone may warn about apps outside a store — that is the standard warning for any self-installed app: new apps without store reputation get flagged by default. Ayooo has no ads, no trackers, and no data collection; install anyway, then trust the battery prompt.
- Download the APK above — most phones want the first one.
- Open it from your Files or File Manager app — many phones block the browser's own installer, and the file manager never fails.
- Sign up with a username and password — no email needed.
- Tap Allow on the battery card. It keeps Android from pausing the app in the background, which is what lets a call reach you.
- Add contacts by username, then call them whenever you like.
- That's it. If the app is closed when a call comes in, the server wakes your phone with a push and it rings like a normal call.
Questions, answered honestly.
The trade-offs are stated, not hidden — including the ones we chose against you.
- Why isn't it on the Play Store?
- A store account isn't needed to distribute an APK. You install it directly, and updates are published here the same way.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. The signaling server runs on the free tiers of Cloudflare Workers and D1; calls ride your existing data connection. If it ever outgrows the free tier, donations — not fees — cover the difference.
- Does it work on mobile data?
- Yes — it was designed for it. On the strictest carrier networks a direct connection may not be possible and the call may fail to connect. We deliberately do not run a media relay, so there are no copies of your call passing through any server of ours.
- Do updates happen automatically?
- Almost. When a new version is out, the app shows an update card on the home screen — one tap opens this page and the install replaces the app in place, keeping your account and contacts.
- Who can call me?
- Only people you accepted as contacts. Incoming calls from anyone else are impossible by design.
- What happens if someone declines me?
- You can't send them another request for 7 days. A decline ends the interaction — it doesn't start a longer one. Limits like this, and the sign-in and calling rate limits, are all listed on the help page.
- What about the "possible risk" warning?
- Phones from Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and friends scan every app installed outside a store, and new apps without store reputation get flagged by default. Ayooo only asks for what calling needs — microphone, camera, notifications, and battery exemption so calls can reach you.
Free, direct, and yours.
Two minutes to install. A lifetime of not thinking about it.
